I am working with a large organisation who are going through a Technical refresh and Transformation Project. As part of this I am looking to bring in two Database Performance Officers (on a fixed term until the end of December 2019), who will help deliver database support.
Duties and Responsibilities
Core responsibilities and duties will include:
Monitoring database performance, managing database availability and maximising the effectiveness of the Corporate database estate to business users and citizens.
Undertaking the day to day operational support for all SQL and Oracle databases, responding to calls made on the ICT Service desk. This includes development, implementation, upgrades, decommissioning and maintaining the existing database portfolio. This will ensure that the whole database portfolio is fit for purpose and available for use.
Ensuring that all ICT service desk calls are dealt with and to work with customers, third party suppliers and colleagues to ensure effective communication is maintained and that agreed performance levels are met, including ensuring support calls and developments are progressed.
Undertaking all the administrative duties required of the post and working within the agreed ITIL framework within the ICT service.
Ensuring all supported Databases comply with security and information sharing capability requirements ensuring compliance issues met and the data is secure.
Providing performance management information, for recharging and monitoring.
Meeting the requirement of providing support and problem resolutions out of office hours, unsocial and weekend working including being available to provide support in the case of a major ICT incident failure.
Specialist Skills and Knowledge
Essential skills, knowledge and experience required to fulfil the role include, but are not limited to:
A good knowledge with practical experience of both SQL and Oracle Database Administrator requirements, and a proven successful track record for developing and maintaining databases, over a wide range of platforms and business applications.
Being an effective communicator, with the ability to explain complicated technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrating the desire and ability to learn new technologies and skills.
Good analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work individually and as part of a team.
