Role: Solutions Architect
I am working with a client in Nottingham who are looking for a Solutions Architect to bridge the gap between the Strategy and Development and really drive projects forward. At the minute the lack of this means that projects have recently been solving very short term problems and creating a technical deficit in Solutions, Applications and Cloud.
We need an Architect, not a Brick Layer; you won't get bogged down by and involved in writing code.
You will be working closely with an Enterprise Architect who has been brought in to take a high-level view of the business and is part-way through an As-Is and To-Be process and is defining a Technical Road Map to create best in breed technical solutions that are future proof.
The Enterprise Architect holds his Solutions Architects responsible for driving projects forward and views his team as Business Partners - IT should help shape the technology in this business and solutions not just blindly deliver projects.
Currently, this organisation uses a Microsoft stack of technologies but there is one eye looking at using open-sourced technologies. Any solutions that you design should take into account off the shelf products, open-source products to deliver best in breed solutions - not just go down a certain road purely because they have always used similar tech.
This role will suit a well-seasoned Solutions Architect who has battle scars from previous transformation projects. Your experience means you can be pragmatic when designing solutions. This is an environment where there aren't defined roles and responsibilities so you need to be self-motivated and thrive in dynamic environments.
Your first real role will be to clear a jog jam of projects that have stalled recently and then become involved in delivering on new projects.
It is expected that you will be involved in every stage of a project from inception where you will be involved with the BA, the project manager and Domain Architects to understand requirements, turn them into a blueprint and then deal with high-level design work.
This role is more suited to someone with a technical background in development, although we wouldn't rule out someone from data and infrastructure backgrounds - knowledge in the following areas would be good: -
Good technical knowledge in all of the following; Azure platform, .Net, MS SQL Server family, No-SQL DBs and CRM.
Demonstrable experience in systems integration & services design.
Strong experience of designing Technical Architecture.
A proven ability to deliver flexible, reliable, supportable, cost-effective IT solution designs.
Good knowledge and experience of SOA, Microservice and Integration architectures including legacy integration.
Experience with Embedded systems and Mobile development, knowledge of Xamarin an advantage.
Familiarity with AI & ML cloud-based services.
