Job Description

My client is looking for a development DBA to sit between the DBA and development teams. They will mostly work with the developers and technical architects to develop new functionality, but must also be able to backfill for support as necessary. They will need to:

- implement and maintain approved database design changes

- write database procedures, functions, triggers and migration scripts

- assist developers with database activities

- tune database queries

- maintain and write reports

- ensure no production data is copied to non-production environments without approval

- backfill for support DBAs where necessary (proactive monitoring of all SQL environments, manage security and lock down all SQL environments, ensure all daily checks are completed and action any alerts or failures, support day to day service issues)

As well as good technical skills, they will need to be able to work as part of a team and independently, have good communication skills and a customer focus, strong problem-solving skills (preferably proven in a support environment).

We can offer experience in the latest technologies including SQL Server 2016.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Good communication skills

Strong problem solving skills, preferably proven in a support environment

Minimum 3 years' experience and strong T-SQL skills

Experience of SQL Server 2008, 2012 and 2014

Experience of SQL Server Administration

SSRS report writing skills

Data modelling / refactoring experience

Understanding of the theory and the importance of referential integrity

Knowledge of disaster recovery / backups

Understanding of performance tuning and the impact of development on production environments

Bonus: experience of both development and support

Bonus: SSIS and SSAS or other data warehousing
