Job Description

I am currently looking for a technical analyst to work for a government organisation in South Yorkshire.


·Maintain and monitor the IT systems in accordance with best practice, policies and procedures

·Test and deploy new solution IT systems, solutions and infrastructure in line with areas of expertise

·Create and maintain appropriate documentation, records and configuration items in line with best practice guidance for service management

·Ensure that approved systems, processes and methodologies are followed to ensure effective monitoring, control and support

·Undertake troubleshooting and fault finding of IT systems, solutions and infrastructure within area of expertise

·Gather information, analyse data, prepare and present reports to a variety of audiences

·Contribute towards the development and implementation of best practice standards for ICT service provision

·Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including senior managers, employees and stakeholders

·Keep abreast of local and national development to enhance the service accordingly and to satisfy internal and external demands

·Provide support for senior managers and staff within area of expertise

·Utilise specialist software and systems to maintain accurate records and information in line with industry standard best practice for configuration management items

·Keep abreast of technology and legislative changes within the area of responsibility; proactively disseminate relevant information to team members and colleagues

·Comply with all health and safety regulations, legal requirements, statutory requirements, standing orders and financial regulations.

Relevant Experience

·Significant experience of delivering technical ICT services

·Experience of working within a project environment delivering technical solutions

·Experience of working in an ICT service management environment and adhering to best practice service management standards

·Experience of testing and deploying ICT systems, solutions or infrastructure projects

·Demonstrable experience in a number of ICT systems, development applications or core infrastructure platforms

·Experience of data analysis and the production of management information and reports

·Experience of trouble shooting and fault finding within an ICT technical environment

·Experience of presenting information verbally at meetings, undertaking formal presentations and delivering staff briefing sessions

General and Special Knowledge

·Knowledge of ICT systems and applications, specifically those delivering public sector ICT services

·Knowledge of IT tools, techniques and methodologies ICT for service management

·Knowledge of the pressures facing local government

·Knowledge of partnership working practices and principles

Skills and Abilities

·Good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

·Good technical ICT skills with the ability to rapidly move into emerging areas and develop new skills and expertise

·Ability to organise and prioritise conflicting workloads and meet strict deadlines; good time management and organisational skills

·Ability to provide high quality support during a period of rapid and continuous change

·Ability to work effectively within a project team; delivering high quality, timely services

·Possess a positive and enthusiastic customer focussed approach with the ability to manage conflict situations and effectively resolve issues

·Ability to contribute to the continual development and improvement of the ICT estate
