Metadata Lead / Greenfield Project / Milton Keynes / £80,000 per annum plus bonus + benefits
Access IT recruitment are working with a client who are going through an exciting period due to the development of new company wide data capability framework.
They are forming two key foundation capabilities through the creation of two new teams: Metadata Management & Data Architecture which will allow them to really understand their data.
The organisations vision is to decentralise the metadata and to advise, mentor, guide, drive and ease the crowdsourcing of this with accountability accepted by the company's domain users.
Working closely with the Head of Digital Data, you will be a data leader that loves the challenge of developing a metadata strategy and leading a team to execute its implementation.
The first phase of this strategic effort is to collect the organisations data dictionaries. Not only does this enable the value users can extract from the Big Data Platform but addresses a number of regulatory and audit related requisites. Extending the collation of the data dictionaries will enable Ingestion as a Service - The vision where anyone with a need for data can search, view and self-serve their access to that data.
You will be building, managing and leading an initial team of five direct reports made up of analysts, technical resources and a repository administrator. You will be defining new processes for the collection, integration, analysis, distribution, quality control and governance of enterprise metadata. You will explain, influence and advocate the power of metadata - how it can change decision-making processes, planning and architecting solutions, searching and finding information. You will steer the architectural development of the current metadata repositories to a seamless, integrated whole.
Experience in strategy development and/or architecture/business planning roadmaps
Have led a data team whether BI/MI, analytics, data science, metadata, data governance, data quality etc
A solid grasp, ideally certified, in a data management framework such as DAMA DMBoK, CMMI DMM, EDM etc
Exposure to data lineage, cataloguing, tagging or big data
Experience working with stakeholders to identify and resolve data issues, conducting impact /gap/root cause analyses to identify bottlenecks and solutions
Experience in developing new and optimising existing processes in an ambiguous environment
An understanding of metamodels and metadata frameworks.
